First Merchants Bank has named a new market president for Northwest Indiana.
The Muncie-based bank, the second largest in Indiana after only Old National, promoted Scott Steinwart to serve as market president for the northwest region.
He'll lead local bank operations in Northwest Indiana, Chicagoland, South Bend and Mishawaka. The bank has a large footprint in the area after its acquisition of Citizens Financial Bank in Munster.
“Scott is a proven leader and exceptional Commercial Banker who has been serving commercial small to upper middle market clients for the past 30 years," First Merchants Bank President and CEO Dale Clapp said.
Steinwart first joined First Merchants in 2010, starting as a senior vice president and commercial manager. He most recently served as the regional chief sales officer for the northwest market for the last four years. In that role, he managed commercial lenders in Northwest Indiana, greater Chicagoland and Michiana.
