Ever since Costco started to offer gold in October 2023 it cause a lot of noise.Truth is, gold has been always the safest way to ensuere value of any currency. I think it'll be interesting to see if gold keeps its leadership on being one of the safest way to save and invest, or maybe with the digital era we are living now, things may change.I share this articule with you all, can read it for free and let me know your input about this topichttps://lnkd.in/eDXKNrCC

Americans are turning to gold as an investment, with the precious metal rating higher than stocks and mutual funds for the first time in a decade, according to a Gallup poll. Costco's gold bars, offered both online and in stores, are selling out within hours. Buyers, particularly younger ones, see gold as a hedge against catastrophe, from natural disasters to financial calamity. Read more about this trend in The Wall Street Journal. #goldinvestment #Costco #preciousmetals

Costco took the rip-off out of buying gold bars and made hoarding it simple again, charging only a 1% premium over the spot price. But try selling the 1-oz bars without taking a 5% haircut when you physically carry them to a dealer to sell, or it will cost you 10% to sell them online with shipping and insurance. If you happen to have a gain when you sell, it is taxed at 28% not 20%; because you can't spend gold and it's not liquid. You might as well invest in a money market fund and get 5.2% interest because the most you can lose is if the inflation rate is above the interest, which it is not; 5.2% has a real value of 1.5% today. And if the FED hikes rates again, gold will surely go down in value--even owning paper gold like the GLD fund subtracts the storage costs, not to mention contango. Ouch, capital loss deductions are capped at 3k per year by the IRS. Costco will sell you gold, but won't buy it back because Costco is in the business of making money, not losing it by holding on to an inventory of gold which can plummet in value on the spot.

Buy Gold Bars at Costco? We've been asked a lot of questions about gold investing over the past 2yrs. Here are a few things you should know before purchasing. 1. Gold is more volatile with less upside than the SP500. So if you are buying because you think it will never go down in value, think again. 2. Gold is no different than any other investment. If everyone is doing it (Costco selling Gold), its probably too late. 3. Gold is no different than any other investment. Research and understanding are critical. There are pros and cons to every investment. For every bit of "safety," you sacrifice long-term opportunity.

Interesting Article on Costco selling gold bars. And the question asked is valid, is Costco creating any model for taking back the same gold? Do people have enough options if they want to liquidate the gold they possess?https://lnkd.in/eFRubNnr

Americans are flocking to gold as a safe investment amid fears of financial calamity and global instability. Costco started offering gold bars last year and has been selling out within hours. In fact, a Gallup poll found that for the first time in a decade, consumers rated gold as a better investment than stocks and mutual funds in 2023. The price of gold has been hitting record highs, making it an attractive investment option. Even younger buyers are investing in gold as a hedge against catastrophe, with many preparing for worst-case scenarios such as natural disasters, wars, and pandemics. #goldinvestment #financialcalamity #globalinstability

Grab a food sample and hedge your investments with gold at your local Costco. https://lnkd.in/gxFyuchfCostco is known for selling daily necessities in big packages, from toilet paper to coffee. But now it's edging into a category also viewed as essential by some investors and survivalists: gold. The discount retailer said this week it has started selling 1-ounce bars of gold, but that demand is so strong it can't keep them in stock even with a limit of two bars per member. The company is selling two types of bars: a 1-ounce gold PAMP Suisse Lady Fortuna Veriscan bar, which bears the imprint of a silhouette of the goddess of fortune with a cornucopia, and a 1-ounce bar from South Africa's Rand Refinery, stamped with an elephant design. Both bars are about half an inch long. The PAMP Suisse bar is registered and comes with a digital certificate that can be accessed with a QR code, while the Rand bars come with their own serial numbers.#markets #endowment #finance #stocks #bonds #gold
