Got into him after seeing him perform on Later.....
Check out his voice!!!!
Another neo-folky who is quite good is Joanna Newsom. Now that's a voice you need to check out!

No, no...really. He taught this dude called Jimmy Hendrix - not to be confused with the great JIMI Hendrix of course...Jimmy was an obese red-haired white guy who eventually realised he had no musical talent and became an accountant.

hendrix was, i think, self taught. satriani did teach steve vai (he once told him "how do you hope to learn if you never practice what i teach you?". cue vai's legendary 10-hour daily practice sessions...) and kirk hammet. beyond that, i'm not too sure. he is an amazing guitarist though - the album surfing with the alien is exquisit, i'm sure you'll agree...

Dude, Joe Satriani was still in diapers when Hendrix was strutting his stuff! Satriani is however credited with teach Steve Vai, though I imagine he was pretty damn good before him and Satriani got together for a cuppa and some fret w@nking.

Well, since by the process of derivative taste I should take bbarr's reccomendation, but I also do like the look of Darvlay's suggestion, I am somewhat split. I will have to consider this some more. It also occurrs to me that I chose RC's reccomendation last time (Arcade Fire - Funeral), I wonder if this too was derivative? Bbarr, do you also own and reccommend this album? If so it may be worth me just asking for a list of CDs to which my bitch-nature will be most receptive...

bbarr, I implore you in the name of all that is sacred to say you do not own 'Funeral' so that the bitchery may be laid to rest like a house of cards in Hiroshima. Of course, the bitching will need to be eulogised, and I can think of no better soundtrack for that.
