In this study, a new molecularly imprinted polymers with high performance for recognizing Rhodamine B was prepared by adopting the surface molecular imprinting technique using silica-gel as carrier material. This allowed us not only to understand their underlying origin of selective adsorption, but also to be able to evaluate their parameters which were important in determining the ability of the MIPS to adsorb the template. Consequently, the binding characteristics of the MIPS were explored using static and dynamic binding experiments,and the quantity of binding sites of the MIPS was examined by using Scatchard analysis.

Rhodamine B is a synthetic triphenylmethane basic dye, but in recent years it has not only been used as a fluorescent dye , but also as a food additive condiment (especially paprika and chili oil). Studies have shown that Rhodamine B has potential carcinogenicity and mutagenicity,so it is quite harmful to eat food containing Rhodamine B. Therefore, it is of essential importance to develop a new technique of large-scale separation and purification of Rhodamine B from food.
